The first book of this trilogy was really good! It had quite a bit of action as the premise involves soldiers modified with internal servos and hidden lasers etc for guerrilla warfare against a hostile alien threat (crazy, I know), but there was also a surprising amount of reflection on the nature of power and politics, and adjusting to life as a civilian after coming home from war.
