Action packed ending. I have no idea how Davis will get out of Israel with the money let alone the hospital. For an EL novel that doesn’t get talked about, I loved this book. The setting of Israel made it a modern western but with 70s characters. Rosen was classically endearing and utterly tacky, in that 70s way. I imagine Rosen character was Leonard himself. Rosens meditations on God and death were great.

Rosen botches Davies’s foolproof plan to landmine the gangsters. Now it’s a real car chase to the Red Sea

Davies visits the lawyer for Rosen’s 195 grand. The lawyer won’t budge. Davies graves Tali picks up some weapons and a few land mines.

Bandy tries to sleep with Tali busy she is grossed out. We learn she met Mati teaching him Hebrew because he is an immigrant and Rosen when she was a flight attendant. Meanwhile, the gangsters get a new car. Rashad bonds with Mati because they are both Black Panthers. He tricks him into meeting with Rosen

Mandy hires Davis to give Rosen the money. Rashad jumps in the car and goes to Rosen with him. Now Davis and Rosen are stuck in the apartment with 3 bad guys downstairs. They also kidnapped Mati

Al Rosen aka Ross aka Rosie needs to find Edie get the money and get out of the country. He remembers Gary valenzuela at the federal building with harry manza, a teamster.
