Considering how important the concept of lying is in this story, it kinda bothers me how none of the characters have put any effort into seriously analyzing it and considering edge cases. Like, could one get away with blurting out a non-sequitur that intentionally sounds like the answer to a question?
"Where were you last night?"
"I was at home." (True, I *was* at home, but not last night.)
