I like how the author writes about antisemitism, homophobia, and identity without making it seem like one theme is more important than the other. The satirical take on how the current generation faces war made me chuckle a bit cuz their reactions are kinda Gen Z-coded 🤭

A very satirical and humorous read. And what I mean by humorous is that it's funny in a 😟 way than a 😂 way ifykwim. Reading the acknowledgements and afterword made me understand this book better. It chronicles the 2006 war between Lebanon and Israel, and how Ali and the narrator is on a convoy to Russia as they had Russian nationality and wanted to escape the bombings.
