Oh my goodness so much happened in those 30 pages I had to stop and do an update. My entire heart beats for and swoons after Kai and how secure he is in his love for Paedyn. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it is so refreshing to have a male character be completely upfront with his feelings. I love that I still get a “Will they, won’t they” feel though. Also oh my god the king is infuriating me

Oh my heart for Kai and Paedyn. I’m scared that when the resistance happens and he finds out she’s an ordinary, Kai will push her away and hate her. I don’t know if he’s capable of even pretending to do that. I already know Kitt will hate her, and honestly I’m fine with that. We always need a villain

The resistance is adding layers to this book that I didn’t expect and I don’t really know how to feel about it. I am PAINED that Pae has to flirt and interact with Kitt more than Kai…even with him laying his feelings out for her, whether she sees it or not

I seem to have forgotten that there is more than one trial. And I’m curious to see what the next one is. I am swooning over Kai and his sincerity with flirting with Paedyn, I also like that they both don’t think the other likes them while also admitting there is obviously something there. Kitt is annoying me, and I know it’s just because he likes Paedyn and he hasn’t done anything wrong but UGH

Still loving Kai and Paedyn. I really appreciate that she is a confident character, so often the girls in these stories are blind to their abilities (physically and socially). It’s interesting that Kitt is taking a liking to her as well. I wonder who she ends up going to the ball with

I’m liking it so far. It’s slightly giving me hunger games with the purging trials and I don’t know how I feel about that. I do like Kai and Paedyn’s dynamics though. Curious to see where it takes us
