I tried to struggle to my feet, but I knew it was too late. I glanced up at him, standing there, he seemed to be looking at me. I grabbed the pillar beside me, and pulled myself upward, I would die on my feet. And as he watched, as the world melted away and me with it, I could only wonder if this was really it. If he had really won. But he hadn't, because I was still standing. And as long as I died in defiance, I still died in victory. And he couldn't take that away.

(Well, that turned into a full paragraph lol. Too long? It might be better if I took a little more time to edit it. )

I'm hoping to publish in the next year or two. (trying not be too ambitious lol). It's now been about a year since I graduated high school, and I've been working a lot on my writing (I even took a self-publishing course, since I decided that's what I want to do), but I've been having a bad writing week or two. This little prompt was so fun tho.

As I stood alone on the desolate wasteland, the crimson sun sinking below the horizon, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. The initial rush of triumph and dominance had given way to a creeping sense of dread and despair. I had achieved my ultimate goal, but at what cost? The screams, the pleas, the innocent lives extinguished - all now silenced, leaving only an eerie stillness. I thought of all the faces, the people I had once known, loved, and hated, now reduced to nothing but dust and memories. And as the darkness gathered, I realized that my victory was a hollow one, for I was left with nothing but my own remorse and the crushing weight of my loneliness.
