Tolkien does a great job painting a scene with words. It’s fairly easy to imagine all the situations that frodo and the other hobbits find themselves in while trying to flee the shire. If it weren’t for the beeping of the cash registers, I would start to think I’m right there with Frodo, traversing the middle earth landscape.

I’ve mostly listened to this at work which has become perfect to disassociate from my work environment. The storytelling skills of Tolkien provide a great escape to a mystical land of hobbits and wizards instead of old people and grocery stores.
