Like this is nitpicky, yes, and this is also a horror/fantasy novel, yes. But the fantastical part is that Dracula happened in a world almost exactly like ours otherwise, not that medicine stopped working like it was supposed to

I hope to God [redacted] is lying about their IV scars because that’s not how ANY of that works. If you’re getting a weekly blood transfusion for YEARS a port would be a far better option than using a needle ever time, and even if you forego that in favor of child torture, your veins would collapse LONG before you could accumulate that many scars, if any, IVs generally don’t tend to scar however?
