Such a good part of the book, really goes into detail about what Yanek and the other prisoners went through, and how he was hoping that allies would come and save them. Yanek is being sent to another camp and is currently on the “Death March” he is very weak and starved and has ate almost all his bread when he sees a boy the same age as him struggling, he helps him walk in hopes he doesn’t fall behind and dies.
