“Vague language contributes to internal confusion.” I have been a turtle reading this book. Everytime I read a chapter, I learn again how valuable words are. “Stick and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me” I am evidence of this quote not being true, and reading this book encourages me to work on sharing my feelings that not only respect others but also honest to myself.

“We are trained to be ‘other directed’ rather than to be in contact with ourselves. We learn to be ‘up in our head,’ wondering, ‘what is it that others think is right for me to say and do?’”. Dr. Rosenberg sums up what a lot of us have learned to do. As I continue reading, I hope to read more about how we can react positively when our feelings are not reciprocated. Great book so far!!
