Dense, depressing--but can't wait to find out what happens to these late 1890's young people. One was just murdered by her father, who then killed himself. Lots of death and grief, but so beautifully written I'm compelled to go on.

Reading this for research. Such lyrical language--surprised at how much I like this book. Reading the library copy at my son's house; have another copy on hold at my public library. Would love to buy it but difficult to find an affordable copy!
