In chapter 9 Kauffman applies his NK landscape model to explain the evolution seen in the Cambrian explosion and the re-population following the Permian extinction. I'm coming around to portions of his thesis, but want to work through some of the math in more detail myself. Many of his statements in the last section have direct equivalents to notions I've held for quite a long while - the question is to find the equivalences between them.
