Emilie I have a great journal article about the construction of memory sites which turn into “wreath dumping places” - have you heard the term before?

Jonathan Vincent No, never

But I think this quote has a different meaning, I couldn't find a good way to post the context. The authors are comparing Berlin to Paris and London, which have already settled on what they want to be, they're "developed." Berlin was cut off from the world for so long that it's still developing, deliberately trying to create an identity and an image

Emilie i think it’s quite similar - the article I read explores how this visible process of image-making is tied to memory practices. so not only how an abstract concept of history it’s important to the city but the very injunction to remember. & as a verb how this emotive practice relates to a city in production :)

Jonathan Vincent Ahhhh okay. I can definitely see that, it is part of Berlin and Germany's image. Publicly acknowledging (some) aspects of the past to create new space for self-Definition.
