What variables enable societies to develop the critical empowering weapons of Guns, Germs, and Steel (thus enabling them to subjugate others) faster? This book attempts to answer this question. Embarrassingly, my hours spent playing Civilization make this infinitely more fascinating as the early turns of Civilization are always an abstraction of the critical portions of this book.
