Learning more about the narrator's life we see how the three cultures are all completely different from each other. In his hometown, he was treated well with plenty of love and food until they had to leave. In Italy, no one wanted to talk to him because he was in a refugee camp that nobody wanted. In America, everyone thinks he is a liar because his stories sound fake.

I can already tell from reading the first couple of pages of this book that it loves to go between gruesome and wonderful. The wonderful is not wonderful though it is what Americans think of the word wonderful. It goes from blood gushing out of the neck of a bull to a house turning into a museum in America because it is 98 years old. It already shows the contrast between what America is and what Iran is.
