It's weird to me that Baum makes a big thing about this being an American fairy tale, yet Scarecrow being "the choice of the people" is negated by some unknown girl having royal blood.

I like that children were specifically asking for a sequel with the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodsman. I'm not alone in thinking that the Lion was the least interesting of the trio.
