So where exactly are you? I don't want to spoil anything but I'm excited to have someone to talk about it with.

He just went to the Half Mast bar and Skarpi is starting his story about Lanre. He's been in Tarbean three years and is still begging, stealing, and getting beat up. I was just wondering why he hadn't tried any of the "magic" he learned from Ben, sympathy or whatever. But I guess Ben scared him out of doing that, and maybe there isn't anyway the little he knows can be useful.
Yeah I think he kind of forced himself to forget everything about his past. Too painful to remember.
A few pages later he used some of what Ben taught him for the first time since his family was killed (to clear his mind). So I guess he'll ease into it.
Skarpi's been hauled off to religious jail or somewhere and Kvothe has been accepted at University and met some nice and not nice students there. And he played a lute again and it was beeeyyoootiful.
Hmmm, I guess not. I'll have to reread. He smiled or something, I think, but I'm guessing there was something else. I'll take another look.

Haven't gotten back to Skarpi yet. Wasn't able to do much reading while we were at Bruce's sister's in Minnesota for New Years. Kvothe borrowed money, bought a lute, and is killing himself finding time to get everything done. Don't tell me, but I'm thinking he'll use the lute to earn money in the other town somehow. Guess I'll see. :-)
