I've read it some years ago and find it quite good. It does manage to capture the feel of the game, with huge epic battleships with thousands of crewmen and slaves. And still give us interesting characters that both stand out and feel like a part of the crew.
The author handles the enemies quite well too. The Eldar feel every bit as alien as they should. Their arrogance and advanced technology is ever present and don't get me started on their dark kin, the forces of chaos or the orks. Every race or faction is very well represented and it's a joy to read!

Well, I'll have to pick that up then!
