I am reading this book on a recommendation and so far I am glad I splurged a bit on it. Really interesting reflections that are easy to connect with many remarks and impressions of my own from my time in China. Even though I am not a frequent reader of social science books, the essays are actually rather enjoyable and informative, not at all obscure nor difficult to process.
