When the author is trying so hard to ruin your characters and is likely a relatively terrible person (and hell bent on making everyone bisexual which isn't bad just unusual to drop 3/4 of the way through a series) but his self insert is still a kind of horcrux of his good qualities.

Imagine being so codependent that it's a national problem, an international problem maybe, an interdimensional problem even. But also? And a skeleton, and a bisexual.
