The setting of this story takes place in Dell Duke's
apartment. Every day they try to straighten out the apartment for a place for Willow to live. The story couldn't have take place anywhere else because if it had been in someone else apartment Dell Duke would not have been involved in the story. Without Dell's apartment, Willow would remain an orphan until a family she didn't know adopted her.

Willow doesn't want to be adopted by a new family, she loves Dell and Mai's family. They all work very hard to turn Dell Duke's not so nice apartment into a suitable living place for Willow. They buy a lot of new furniture and completely remodel the house. They throw out all of Dell's extra stuff that isn't needed.'The court approves Dell to be a parent to Willow and for the first time in forever Willow feels happy.

This is a very inspiring story about a girl named Willow Chance. Willow is a child genius and has had trouble making friends. When her parents whom adopted her passed away, she was absolutely crushed. A nice girl in which she meet at her counseling named Mai begs her mom and brother to help the poor child out. Throughout the book Williow becomes great friends with the family and her counselor Dell Duke.
