I think his ideas are very good, but the issue that HAS to be addressed is the incentive to fanatically follow the side of an oppressed people, because it holds massive moral credit, despite the actual reality of the situation, and what a solution might look like for the oppressed people. Instead, rights can be asserted uncritically and condemn the whole people to a slow death.

Despite seemingly having context in post modernism, he doesn’t really address the problem of creating new realities through simulacrum.

I think his underlying point about having amateurism as a motivating thing is better than professionalism and being stuck to a particular set of norms, but at the same time those amateur researchers are really unfathomably stupid because of how people can convince themselves of their own research which is very shitty

Very good chapter, being an exile gives a duplicitous view that prevents the attachment to one particular view of something, and allows for an understanding that does not assume the presuppositions of said society, because these presuppositions are normally instilled through existing in said society, being an exile and part of a new society produces original and new thought. Temptations exist to be a pundent though

I feel ready to be disappointed, but so far so good.

Makes the point so far that the intellectual is a specific type of persona, like a politician, who also takes on the peculiarities of their environment and so on, and whose ideas you can see manifest based on their situatedness. Very interesting so far, i wonder if he will have anything to say about misinformative intellectuals
