I think that main idea of what I read is just telling the story of Gerry Lopez. Since he is one of the best surfers ever it tells the story of his whole life from his perspective. There is not really a main idea. But I really connect to this book because I am a surfer. He gives some great tips to stay comfortable in the ocean and I can connect them to my life and actually use them when I am surfing.

The most interesting thing I read this week is how Gerry navigates the waves and how he learned where to paddle out and where to sit in the line up to get the most waves. He said that if the waves are big, before you paddle out always look if there is a channel to paddle out in. It will make it easier because no waves break there. He also said to sit in the line up farther than anyone and be patient.

The most important part of my book I have read so far is when Gerry Lopez first pops up on a surfboard. When he was describing the feeling it was legitimately the same exact feeling I had when I first stood up. This is important because if Gerry didn't stand up on the board the one day then he would never be the great surfer he turned out to be, and I would not even be typing this. we are the same in some ways.

In my book this week Jerry wants to take his girlfriend on a pattle out in his surfboard and just sit out in the ocean. When they got to the beach the waves were huge and Jerry figured that he would just paddle out with her in the current where the waves don't break. When they were paddling out a huge wave came and broke right on them. The board was lost but Gerry swam and got it. He brought his girlfriend to safety.

The character I am choosing is Gerry Lopez. I think that he is a very nice person and a great surfer. He has had a lot of family problems but that doesn't hold him back from achieving the goals that he wants to achieve. This means that he is a very hard worker which is very a very important trait to have. He did even get a very good education either, his parents couldn't afford it so he had to stick with his dream.

I think that the author wrote this book so people could find out about his amazing adventures and thrills as a great surfer. I think he also wrote to teach young surfers the right and the wrong thing to do in the water. He gives a lot of tips that are actually very helpful in surfing. He is one of the greatest surfers ever to live and I think he wanted to write about his awesome life in the surfing world.

Gerry and 3 of his friends go on a trip to Tahiti because they figure out that there is great surf there. Gerry and his 2 friends are some of the first people to ever surf the spot called cloudbreak. Cloudbreak is a perfect right barrel that breaks along a shallow reef. It is ideal to get in the barrel and then come out of it. This waves makes it very easy to do so and that is why they loved the spot so much.

If I had to interview someone in my book it would most definitely be Gerry Lopez. Gerry is the author of the book and is also the main character. I would ask him what he most liked about surfing. To be honest I have no idea what he might say in return. It would be awesome if what he said was the same opinion that I had about surfing. I think Gerry's opinion on surfing would really help become better at the sport.

I think that the best parts of the book are when Jerry teaches himself how to hold his breath and survive the big surf. When he is going through these horrid experiences under water he teaches hi sale to stay calm. When he gets smashed by the waves he stays calm because if he freaks out then he will just lose his breath. Now when I get smashed by bug waves I try to do the same thing. I really connect with this book.

Gerry is entering a contest at pipeline and is leaving for a trip the next day. He thinks it's a great day too leave because the surf is good and he won't be back for awhile. As he is paddling out there is a huge set rolling in from the outside. The wave breaks right in front of him and he is getting the beating of a lifetime. He is about 20 feet below the surface and tries to stay calm. He does and swims up.

I would definetly want to be the character in this book. I would want to be the character Gerry Lopez because he is one of the best surfers of all time. I really enjoy surfing and it would be awesome to make a career out of it just like Gerry did. Also Gerry is definetly one of the people I look up too and base my surfing off of. His style is creative and I think that is very important in surfing,
