8. Summarize: I'm going to skip this one for your sake and mine because who wants to read a summary of a non fiction book.

16. Bryne's tone throughout the book remains a constant upbeat and somewhat informal tone considering the book is nonfiction.

15. Update to my previous update: Or does it? Maybe this book does tell a story. As cliche as it sounds this book tells the story of humanity. Music is such an integral part of life it's hard to say there is no story when the underlying story to the book is everyday life.

14. Update: Writer's strategies don't seem entirely appropriate seeing this isn't a book that tells a story. But I'll try my best

13. Themes: going to be honest I'm not entirely sure how to say the author's themes on a non fiction theme. So I'm just going to say knowledge, knowledge is the theme in this book.

12. Favorites: once again my favorite sentence is "I had an extremely slow dawning insight about creation." There's something about it that makes me wish I had come up with it. Probably because it would be perfect to start a monologue for a film with and I love to write screenplays even if they'll never make it to the big screen.

11. Favorites: An amazing fact I learned from the book was how it's possible for musicians to record entire albums from their homes now instead of having to go to a large corporate recording studio, which I always found ironic because rock'n roll is all about sticking it to the man yet there go so many rockstars crawling after the giant label companies.

10. Favorites: I do like how the author can connect personal experiences to somewhat complicated practices, like the chapter about audio recording in the studio. It kept the chapter from being absolutely brain numbingly boring into fairly interesting facts with a dash of real life stories.

9. Favorites: "I had an extremely slow dawning insight about creation." I know what you're thinking,"The only reason you chose that quote is because it's the first line in the book Zach you're not fooling me." But the thing is it's the one quote I remember. That sounds bad but it's not, that quote left an impression on me even after I returned the book weeks ago

7. Prediction: I predict Bryne is going to keep talking about how he sees the influence of music throughout society and the world. To be fair that's a very easy prediction because it's pretty much the whole book.

6. Argue: Finally! So far this book has been how music works according to one guy. I suppose he has a sort of qualification being an artist but I wish he took a more non biased stance on the supposed "science of music"
