I daren't pause lest plot & people tumble from my head. But no problem so far -- and without consulting the character list.

I find the long scenes in various points of view -- more new ones than returning, so far -- work like short stories, and prevent staleness in a 1-1,500 pp book. Better, unlike starting another short story where you have to do the work to engage anew, they intersect and reflect on each other, pieces of a puzzle; you already have the investment, and you are intrigued by new light shone on the familiar. A mosaic novel.
