Frank Herbet's writing is weird, because he simultaneously is pretty good at creating tension, while also feeling like everything has the same relevance instead of creating highs and lows.

I don't know if it's because I'm listening to the audiobook where there are a few odd narration choices, but I'm not connecting with the characters in any way. They feel robotic. The world-building is amazing and the plot is good, but I'm not feeling any sense of urgency either.
