I was on the committee when this won Newbery Honor - eager to hear what you think.

I liked this book, but I tend to gravitate towards books that are intended for an older audience -- I probably would've given this book a 3.5 star rating if Goodreads would allow it. I liked all of the characters (minus Katar) and the plot was cute. I am glad that Hale gave Miri an independent streak because otherwise it might have seemed to much like a fairy-tale. I already told my niece (who is currently in 3rd grade) that she can read it when she is older.

SN: I bought this book for about $3 when Borders had their going out of business sale! I remembered you mentioning it at one point during the summer, plus it was an honor book, so I knew it was worth the $3. : )
