This book is better than I thought. The authors at times feel painfully disconnected from how tech actually works, which I at first saw as a weakness, but now read as a strength. Most people don’t know how the tech they use works, and I think the academic treatment is interesting. I’d like to see an updated edition tho.

page 71 -they describe their process putting music on Spotify for purposes of documenting its trajectory. they “were thereby approaching and learning about the service in similar ways as aspiring musicians”. hm no … it’s clear they didn’t speak to a single actual musician about
thus process. kind of hilarious and performance arty but in no way what an actual musician would do
