This has to be my favorite classic novel. I’ve read it more than a dozen times and am finding such solace and joy in this reading. I lived in Atlanta as a child and the descriptions of the deep rich red soil, and the waxy creaminess of the fragrant magnolias are spot on. I breathe the heavy, pungent air of Tara as Scarlett does.

Every time I read this novel - and I have done so over a dozen times - I learn more about being human and the myriad ways in which people attempt to understand the meaning of life.
Scarlett attacks her life with every weapon she has, and I am in awe of her spirit and her grasp of what matters. Yes, she is spoiled and entitled! That’s part of what makes her transformation so damn gorgeous to follow!
