The novel Holes, by Louis Sachar is set at Camp Green Lake, in Green Lake, Texas. The time in which Stanley is living and being a protagonist seems to be around the early 2000's. This is because the novel is set recently enough for the camp records to be computerized and for characters to talk about "cyberspace".
