So the First few pages consisted of the people who are renowned in trade related stuff. While reading i realised a lot of them got rich from chinese opium trade. Which was between china and india. So i got the feeling that i just knew the fact of opium war but not the indepth repurcussion. History is not just about the dates and event it is more.

I am really disappointed by the lack of mention of India Subcontinent. Only calicut and cambay were mention. So it was pretty hurtful to see how china lost its opportunity of Dominance in 14th century. If they have made a good navy they easly could have countered europeans rise in renaissance. Plus it is also said to see the distruction of hinduism in the spice islands just for the sack of sack of making money.

Till Now book is really amazing. I learned a lot of new things about medevial trade. Also the way dots are connected is amazing. Authors style of writting make the book very interesting. But the less mention of the india is the thing i believe author missed out on. plus most of the converstion is going on about the west asia region. Which is okk as it sits in cross roads between west and east.

So i have just started reading the book. But i just wanted to share my thought about the first impression i got from the book. The way it is written is really amazing. I am pretty much excited to read it. As it will be my First non- fiction book of the year. The reason behind reading this book is to gain as much knowledge as i can about trade before i give my IIFT(One of the best B-school in India) interview.
