okay so captain wentworth and anne are reminding me of benedick and beatrice from much ado, mainly because they’re both from heavily patriarchal societies, the men are both seemingly confident and the women both decide the status of their relationships respectively.
also mary slayed - “if there is anything disagreeable going on, men are always sure to get out of it”
