The book so far has been about a girl who's family have been killed. She goes to a battle field where she looks to give her brother a traditional burial for his death in the war. She is stopped however by a group working with Americans who tell her, her brother will be taken to Kabul. She waits on the battlefield with her cart nevertheless.

The book has moved on from the female character to an army soldier fighting in Afghanistan. There is a battle between his team and other Taliban, which takes place during a sandstorm. He gets injured and has to fly home. It then moves on to a medic in the military. "You bin takin' Taliban Turban 101, Doc?" page 70.
