the book is slightly mindblowing the slightly not

I'm finding the holistic approach of trying to create a "Master Algorithm" for an Al which has human-like intelligence to be misguided. The author is here describing all the schools of thought, the symbolists, connectionists, bayesians, analogists, and evolutionists and trying to bridge the gap between them. I haven't gone to the gap bridging chapter yet, but I don't see how this convolution leads to a single code.
