Now that Frodo and his posse are finally safe and sound in the elven kingdom, I can't help but wonder how long that will last. I know there must be more danger ahead for their crew and there is still plenty of the book left. Inference

During the fight Frodo decides to put on the Ring and when he disappears, he can see the black riders for what they actually are. Tolkien does a great job of helping the reader visualize the horror of what Frodo feels when the riders are unmasked. Visualization

Strider mentions something about Bill Ferny and how is going to tell the black riders about where Frodo and company are heading. This is foreboding and something yells me the Black Riders will soon have a confrontation with Strider and Frodo. Prediction

Gandalf's note is hilarious and is one of the only funny parts in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a nice break from the suspense and seriousness of the book. Favorite

Uncouth is another strange word I needed to look up. It means: (of a person or their appearance or behavior) lacking good manners, refinement, or grace.

Tolkien uses great imagery to describe the settings that the hobbits are traveling to. The reader can really feel like they, themselves, are transported to wherever the characters in the book are. Especially in the great forest where the trees are attacking them. Visualization. Favorite.
