“It is a great challenge to be truly confrontational yet humorous as a commercially successful comedian.” (53)

I read about Tom Lehrer; Peter, Paul & Mary; and the Smothers Brothers. I still don’t completely understand how PM&M totally fit into this chapter.

I read about Gil Scott-Heron, Grandmaster Flash, Bob Marley, & Peter Gabriel. I don't fully understand how the music of Grandmaster Flash and Peter Gabriel have to do with protest music.

It felt like this book had peaked at chapter four (still think that). Chapters 5-10 felt like the author was pulling at strings to convince me that those artists pertained to protest music. But I think we are back on track. Maybe.
