It is learnt from this chapter that the defect and failure of al-Afghani in his positive response to modern science is his false premise that this science is an exact continuation of Islamic science and is value-free intellectual and cultural enterprise.

On al-Afghanis's argument that modern science is value-neutral or universal character is only valid when it is distinct from philosophical assumptions and interpretations concerning physical reality, which constitute the foundation of the knowledge.

I have come to know from this chapter that Atomism of kalam has become the dominant 'philosophy of nature' in Sunni theology. Another important revelation to me is that the earliest theological and political debates, there emerged sectarian groups like that of MURJI'ITES, QADARITE'S and KHAWARIJ.So, the sectarian divides are derived from these hot debates. Alhmdulillah for this new knowledge."
