I'm in a reading slump. I've picked up five books in the last two weeks and nothing is catching my fancy. Boo.

Marquise When that happens to me, I do one of these things:

a. Read a book from a genre I normally don't read.
b. Read a "fluffy" (my term for light romances and comedies)
c. Reread an old and much battered favourite.

If all fails, there's always good old Hollywood...

I actually did just pick up a romance. We'll see how it goes...

Misty what about something completely outside your typical genre? Have you ever read "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde? Completely silly and fun. Yet all sorts of literary inside jokes.

Lucy Stephanie Perkins books are great for reading slumps! Or Rainbow Rowell. Or(you probably already read these) but The Infernal Devices got me out of a terrible slump

I adored Anna and the French Kiss! But the other books in the series didn't thrill me as much. And I loved the Infernal Devices!

I actually read across several genres. I just pretty much stay away from contemporary thrillers and chick-lit. I haven't read Fforde's books yet, but they're on my list!

Jenny Q Thanks, guys! The historical romance I picked up is working pretty well so far...

Glad to hear! I knew one of the remedies would work.
