At this moment in the book, Julius Grief, one of the top criminals in the world though he is a kid, escapes from the super high security prison in Spain. Scorpia, a group of criminals, helps Julius escape so he can kill Alex Rider. Earlier, Julius had tried to kill Alex but failed.

In this part of the book, a sniper tries to kill Alex at school. The sniper hit one of Alex's best friends. Alex runs outside his school to try to catch the sniper. The sniper pulls away in his car and Alex is trying to bike him down and capture him. Alex is a normal schoolboy who had been recruited by MI6, the CIA of England eight times already. Alex is pretty much fearless and is also courageous, strong, and kind.
