My favorite part of the book so far has been Calvin’s friendships and the consistory minutes from Geneva. You get to see Calvin’s personality and pastoral heart when he is often viewed as a cold and harsh theologian.

The first part of this book which was biographical was really helpful. The second part is helpful in seeing the development of Calvin’s doctrine, but I’d rather read Calvin than read others explain his doctrine.
