I had to stop because I was so worried about what would happen to the oxen. He loves those oxen so much, you just know something heartbreaking is going to happen to them.

Obvi I love literature, but I can only deal with so much *devastating content.* I can deal with challenges, but I have read enough about punishments inflicted on protagonists. Is that ok? Please recommend less punishing books!
