quite possibly the most boring book I’ve read. I do not care for these awful characters

in terms of writing, I think its great! his writing has been really descriptive and some passages, especially about nature, have been gorgeous, but I think he also has a tendency to run on with things. so, in terms of writing yes, would recommend!!! :) characters and social attitudes of the time that are portrayed in the book maybe not? his portrayal of women has not been the best, and descriptions of minority groups have been questionable at best.
I think if you read it as a piece of its time/hasn't aged well/as something to discuss, it could be a good read, but it does have its downfalls too.
i'm probably not the best person to review the book honestly because I don't usually read books with main characters like the one in this book, but idk. sorry you probably didn't want all of that hehe. if you take it as what it is yes would recommend, but if you don't like books written for upper-middle class, white, male tories probably wouldn't recommend petal!!
