When you first meet the pigman in the book you can instantly notice that he is desperate for companionship. The main characters feel bad and spend time with him but then they betray him by accident and he pushes them away. They come back and go to the zoo were the sadness causes him to have a heart attack. The mood of the book changes drastically from a more happy upbeat mood to a depressing mood.
