Under 100 pages now. The writing is a bit disorienting at times but still enjoyable and a lot of juicy lore reveals have me salivating for more as some questions I’ve had since Gardens of the Moon are being kinda sorta and answered.

Decided to read this as it’s recommended after Midnight Tides and I have some time before the new year and I get back into Book of the Fallen with Bonehunters. This is my first Esslemont book and, while my expectations are limited due to what I’ve heard about it not being the best quality, I love the opening. It feels like Malazan and it feels like home. I’m ready!
