Books 3&4 are tied for 3rd place. I did enjoy how the great battle was highly specific and action packed. Still annoyed about the Felix thing, loved that there was a semblance of redemption but what was the point if it lead nowhere? I throughly disliked the essential dismantling of the finishing world via laws, but our mc gets to keep it up? Seems odd given the world building

I can’t believe the first two books only span 18 months, quite crazy, depending on how #4 goes this probably will be my least favorite. I’m not a great fan of how this plot basically took place in under a week, somehow everything happened yet nothing at all did? Not to mention that the Felix situation still pisses me off even now.

4.5–> still entirely running on vibes alone with this series. I love the world and the adventures expand from within school walls into all of society. I do wish we’d get a bit more of a breakdown regarding how the supernatural fit in. I’m still a Felix girly but it doesn’t mean I didn’t want to kick him in the shins a for a good bit

It might be due to the time separation from when I first read these years ago but I was utterly shocked to learn the mc is only 14. Threw me for a loop. Still was a fun little jaunt into steampunk once again. Gail Carriger remains the only author who’s steampunk world I can fully immerse myself into happily. would say a 4.5 rating, mainly based on vibes, joy, and entertainment alone
