Notes:
(1) One minor plot hole is how seemingly expert The Christmas Pig is about the Land of the Lost.
- He's straight from the toy store and has never been lost, so he shouldn't know anything.
- The justification is that the other toys told him what it's like. But, his informants would have to be Jack's toys (who he just met) since everything at the toy store is also new.

Notes:
(1) I'm reminded how often it is seemingly light and fun artistic works actually convey darker, markedly unfun messages and tones.
- On the surface, this might seem like a cute story about a kid having an adventure in a fantasy land with his stuffed animal.
- The story's actually about coming to terms with death, divorce and accepting broken things as still valuable.

Notes:
(1) DP: "Losing is part of living ... But some of us live even though we're lost. That's what love does."
- The moral of the story.
(2) What this reminds me of most is Brian K. Vaughan's "Y: the Last Man."
- It's the same sort of Odyssean journey where the hero searches for one thing nearly the whole way, but once found realizes what he wanted was with him all along.

Notes:
(1) This may seem like your typical children's portal fantasy, but it's far more like "Dante's Inferno" than "Alice in Wonderland."
- The Land of the Lost is an afterlife. The Wastes are its hellish depths, the Island of the Beloved its heaven, and various degrees of limbo in between.
- Being found is also a kind of heaven, wherein items are raptured in golden light.

Notes:
(1) Broken Angel: "I was bought to replace an angel they loved!"
Christmas Pig: "I'm a Replacement, too"
- "Replacement" here is capitalized every time as proper noun. Indicative of a caste designation among the lost.
- This book's partly about divorce from a child's perspective. The loss and (initially inadequate) replacement of loved items is very much an allegory.

Notes:
(1) "Things that are lost inside Things that are lost must stay lost in the Things that were lost. That's the law!"
- As convoluted as this sounds, it makes perfect sense. If you find a container, you find everything inside it too. So even as separate sentient beings, they shouldn't separate.
- Sucks though, like being in solitary confinement: jailed inside a prison.

Notes:
(1) "[Christmas Pig] was the same size as [Dur Pig], and made of the same toweling material, but it was plump and smug looking, with sleek salmon-pink skin and shiny black eyes that looked like tiny beetles."
- Typical evil twin scenario. If this was "Star Trek" he'd be wearing a goatee and sparkly sash.
(2) Holly's such a great character. Her heel turn cuts so deep.

Notes:
(1) This sounds more like a radio play than an audiobook.
- They went all out on sound effects, music, ambient noise and indistinct chatter.
- It's hardly ever just the narration.
(2) The mom here seems to have a thing of Irish guys. The ex-husband has an Irish accent and the new beau's named Brendan Macaulay.
- Though the narrator's accent might only be coincidence.

Notes:
(1) Time sure flies by fast. It's December already! Might as well start my holiday reads.
- My audiobooks are always rereads, so this was my only option—which is fine, it saves me from choosing.
(2) I prefer single narrators over full-cast productions but, again, this was my only option.
- As such I'll go normal speed to better appreciate the individual performances.
