Sometimes too many examples are given. Great for building the image of the time but bad for keeping the readers attention. I feel like so far more than 1/2 of the book has been about other subjects then the person it's meant to be about.

I started of a bit rocky with this book. put it down several times thinking what a waste of paper. but, there is a powerful draw for me to this book. It's the subject matter. I am a big fan of powerful women through history. So will give it a go and see if I can complete.
Also, very good description of the time and customs of Ancient China. Very intriguing. But this does sometimes take away from the subject.
