McWhorter has some annoying tendencies and sometimes goes on far longer on a topic than he really needs to. He's injecting too much debatable personal opinion as if obvious fact, and sometimes his examples are so long as to turn into tangential linguistic trivia instead of a concise illustration of the principle.
