Cracking read. Maybe Tobin's best yet. Everything you'd hope for: twisty intertwining plotlines, genuinely frightening villains, taut pithy prose w/ the odd bravura flourish, deftly interwoven social history & a surprisingly tender gaze on the lives of his characters shot through with a steely controlled contempt for the powers that be who've let much of the city to rot into this. Not bad for a bargain bin thriller!
