I’ve now read King John and Richard II. I studied the latter at night school many years ago. The language of Richard II is of course soaring and inspirational, and the pathos inspires profound sympathy for the human condition. I’m now going to study The Oxford Shakespeare volume of Richard II. Then King Kohn from the same series.

I have now only to read Henry VIII and I will have studied all 10 of the histories in this volume. I have also not read Edward III which has been attributed to Shakespeare since publication of this volume. I think I’ll need at least another year to read through all the comedies and tragedies! Not to mentioned the poems.
